Know us by the company we keep.
At GEMS World Academy Switzerland, we teach an international programme of study to children ages 3 to 18. We are proud to be an IB World School and offer the PYP, MYP and IB Diploma Programme. GWAS is one of only 324 schools globally to be authorised to teach all three programmes of the International Baccalaureate.
The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global non-profit membership organisation working collaboratively to shape international education through professional services to schools, higher education institutions, and individuals. The CIS vision is to inspire the development of global citizens through high quality international education: connecting ideas, cultures and educators from every corner of the world. CIS core services include International School Accreditation, Educational Recruitment and Leadership Search for schools, and Higher Education Services that facilitate linkages between schools and colleges and universities.
Within CIS membership are schools that have achieved a mark of high quality and rigour - CIS International Accreditation. This recognition signifies that the school has completed a comprehensive self-study and international peer review as part of a continuous improvement process focusing on standards and indicators that promote the development of student knowledge, skills, attributes and actions aligned with the CIS Definition of Global Citizenship. Colleges and universities worldwide acknowledge that a CIS Accredited School meets internationally-agreed and recognised standards and develops global citizens with the qualities and skills that they are seeking in students.
CIS International Accreditation is recognised by the National Association of Independent Schools (USA), and by many governmental and non-governmental agencies around the world.
The Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS) exists to support international schools in Switzerland and neighbouring countries in achieving their educational goals and to provide representation on issues of common interest.
Following a very long and rigorous whole-school application and inspection process, we are proud to say that we are now accredited members of the Council for International Schools (CIS).
