The MYP Theatre Arts Programme approaches theatre through inquiry-based learning. In addition to the study of drama skills, techniques and styles, students must make real-world connections and answer a variety of inquiry questions. By learning theatre in this way, students improve their performance abilities, acquire skills that translate to everyday life and allow them to become lifelong learners and inquirers.
MYP Drama students reflect, connect, and document their artistic efforts in a Digital Process Portfolio which supports and celebrates their creative process.
A range of skills and talents can be nurtured through active participation in Drama at GWAS, including confidence, assertiveness training, voice production, movement, mime, mask work, improvisation, performance poetry, scriptwriting and whole play performance.
Drama provides an excellent opportunity for students’ creative exploration, expression and performance, as well as the study of contemporary and historical issues in an imaginative way.
